Food was good New Mexican cuisine with all the chips and salsa you want and also soft drinks were always topped off wait staff was courteous prices were excellent and the atmosphere was New Mexican nice place .

Made reservations Called an hour ahead of time. Provided my name and phone number. However at the time of the reservation the restaurant owner stated that they tried calling But they took the incorrect number so this made it impossible to contact because of the employee. If you live in Belen you also know everything closes early so this ruined plan for my family on my sister in-law birthday. The owner took no responsibility for her employee wrong doing did nothing to fix problem she stated that it was mistake people make mistakes

I haven't been here in almost 14 years and the hour round trip out of our way to get here was worth it! Every bite lived up to the memories I have held in my head. The chile rellenos that are lightly breaded and pan fried - the very opposite of the highly processed, thick breading that is microwaved at Mexican restaurants throughout VA. The rellenos have a slight crunch on the outside and combined with the gooey melted cheese on the inside makes the best rellenos I've had in my life. Virginians have no clue what a real sopapilla is until you've put honey all over theirs. I hope it won't be another 14 years before having this amazing food again!!

A delight to find in tiny Belen. Pete's is still family owned, watched over and cared for by the descendants of the original owners. It's the best Mexican food anywhere because they love what they do and do what they love. We had chicken stuffed sopas and the chili relleno plate. Marg's are still $5.50, and still good.Pete's is tucked away nearly under the overpass and right next to the railroad, so one needs to know what they are looking for. It's worth finding. They have their own on-site parking and are wheelchair accessible. Inside there is family, good food, and a nice ambiance. The restrooms and modern and clean, even though the building is historic.

I pass through here about every other year or so, and have never been disappointed. I try to plan my lunch meal so that I will be hungry again by the time I pass through Belen so I can stop at Pete's

Absolutely the best place to eat in all of Valencia county. Don't forget to try the Italian wedding cake, it's amazing.

I loved the sopapillas, they are soft, yet crispy, good kind of greasy and perfect tasting. That said the chili is hooot, it sweet that they let you know and you can ask to taste. It's great on price. The rice is on the dry side. The red chili is thick and kinda paste like, not my preference. The tacos were ground beef (meat was dry) and shells looks store bought. The salsa was hot and chips were good, skip the guacamole. The have good calabasita, but I like mine topped with cheese. The soda has crushed ice and perfect fizz and syrup combo, get a to go cup. I would go back only for the soda and sopapillas alone.

Great food and portions. Friday specials were spot-on fantastic. Excellent service with a warm atmosphere to enjoy dinner with family and friends. The live music was a wonderful touch for the evening too!

The ambiance of this place was wonderful, but the food was pretty meh. No spice to anything -- the salsa had no kick. I had the Navajo taco, it was a good portion but fairly bland. Service was good!

The dinning room was very charming, the Southwest decor makes for a authentic New Mexican experience. The waitress was very nice and polite. The food was very good and the menu looks so great I can't wait to return and try the other items. I am definitely going to vote that we have our holiday company get together here at Pete's.

The environment was cool. The prices were way to high for the amount of food they give you. I probably will not go back.

Never had a problems when we ate there ,but this time they forgot a item we ordered and took a long time to get ahold of our waitress and never even got a offered a refill on our drinks till we were about to leave

If you love new mexico chili this is the place to eat. Your taste buds will enjoy it. Service is the best I've ever had. The artwork on the walls can take you to memory lane. Wow is the word I would use for this fine establishment.

Their chili is always good tasting and not so hot that you can not taste it. Always consistent.

We showed up just a few minutes before closing today without realizing it. The hostess/server seated us with a smile and didn't even mention the fact that we were "those" jerks! Service was FAST and the server was so nice!! She made sure we had a fantastic meal and never tried to rush us - we rushed ourselves and hopefully she was happy with her well-deserved tip. Thank you for always serving with a smile! Thank you for always serving delicious meals!!

First off. I can go with out a mask. This resturant is not TRYING to kill us along with the governor. Thank you a whole lot. Second The patio is beautiful and smells wonderful.Third Jentery made us feel welcome and has a great smile. She took our order, laughed with us and everything was correct. Last the food was good. It could have been better if the cooks we nicer. I had to waste a beef sopapilla. All because the cooks wont make two bean stuffed sopapillas. So I gutted the beef sopapilla and stuffef it with my side of rice.Not every one eats meat or seafood cooks!!! You would make more money if you just cooked and not complained about substitutions. Thanks for having this dine in experience ...I will come back with more of my friends.

There's a reason that Pete's is the local mainstay for New Mexican food. Sometimes they lean a little bit on the salt rather than invigorating flavors, but if you're going to Pete's you're not looking for gourmet. Their comfort-food centerpieces - like their enchiladas and stuffed sopapillas - are excellent and inexpensive.

It was the best time we have since covid began. Meal was delicious and atmosphere was beautiful.

Always delicious and great service. I can't say it too much the service is great I tip the bussers you never seen them stop they clean everything. The food is so good worth the trip I recommend to anyone with long drives I live 10 min away and visit about 2 times a week
